Finally, a good supper.  I modified an old recipe and it turned out great!!!  Phew, after yesterday's catastrophe, I was a little worried.

Slow Cooked Apple Venison

  • 3 Venison Steaks or any other cut
  • 2 cups apple juice
  • 1 onion, diced
  • a touch of Herbamare
  • 1 carrot, peeled & cut into 1/2" slices
  • 1 sweet potato, peeled & cut into 1" cubes

Cook on low in a slow cooker all day.  When done, take out solid foods and pour liquid into a pot.  Cook on high on stove top until it starts to boil.  Meanwhile, mix 1 tbsp tapioca starch with 1/4 cup of water and mix into liquid.  You may want to add a touch of Herbamare to taste.  Stir until thickens slightly.  Pour gravy over meat and veggies.

I hope you enjoy this.  I definitely did.  Tomorrow, I am planning to cook a turkey.  I must say, it was definitely a challenge finding an inexpensive turkey at this time of year.  Next time they are on sale, I will buy a few and freeze them.
