I highly recommend this food dehydrator.  It is by far the best and a must have for healthy eating.  Most dehydrated foods are full of nitrates and other unsavory ingredients.  The Excalibur makes fantastic food and has a fabulous warranty.
  • Banana Chips (make sure they are very ripe - tastes like candy)
  • Apple Chips (try with cinnamon on top)
  • Fruit Leather (try using apple sauce)
  • Dog Treats (sweet potato, meat, etc)
  • Jerky (beef, venison, etc.)
  • Vegetable Spices (dry your veggies & put in a food processor)
  • Rising Bread
  • The options are endless

Well, I don't think I am ready to start reintroducing items.  Things were a little loose this morning, so I'm going to continue on.

Withdrawal Symptoms - Day 19

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Saturday, May 25, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
Hmm, I don't know what is going on today, but I am really gassy today.  It started around 3pm I think.  Not sure what would have caused it though.

Withdrawal Symptoms - Day 17

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
Wow, day 17.  I have to say, I'm feeling pretty good today.  Looks like I'm on my way to recovery.  I made some super yummy recipes today and yesterday, so be sure to see the recipe section for Zucchini Pancakes (so good) and Apple Chips (also very yummy and can be grabbed at anytime.

Withdrawal Symptoms - Day 14

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
Nothing much to report today.  A little gassy in the morning, but after taking a trip to the bathroom that went away.  I know it's been awhile, but I'm pretty sure that is normal.

Withdrawal Symptoms - Day 12

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Friday, May 17, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
It seems I messed up my days somewhere, so day 10 is actually day 11.

My body is still sore, but my gastrointestinal system seems to be feeling better.  I actually had my first solid bowel movement in a year this afternoon.  I'm so excited!!!

Withdrawal Symptoms - Day 10

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Thursday, May 16, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
Wow, I hurt everywhere this morning.  The tops of my thighs are sore, my hand still feels inflamed, my neck is stiff, as well as my back.  This is crazy.

No bowel movement so far, but I have to say, I'm not giving off toxic gas anymore.  This is a definite bonus.  I'm really happy about this.

I should also take note that I've been extremely grumpy since I started this diet.  I don't know if I'm just frustrated at not being able to eat foods I love or if it's a symptom related to ridding my body...

Withdrawal Symptoms - Day 9

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Thursday, May 16, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
Not too much going on today.  Things are still a little soft, but better.  I did have a strange thing happen to my hand though.  The top of it seems to hurt.  It's almost like the tendons are inflamed.

Withdrawal Symptoms - Day 8

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
Things weren't too bad this morning.  My bowel movement was soft, but much better than 2 days ago.  I actually feel pretty good this morning.  Looks like I'm making some progress with this elimination diet.

Withdrawal Symptoms Day 7

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Sunday, May 12, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
I consulted the friend that I am doing this diet with and she said that the detoxification length for this diet is 20 days, so I might have symptoms for awhile yet.

This morning I felt quite ill.  My stomach hurt, I felt nauseous, I had to run to the bathroom 3 times with diarrhea, I was gassy, and my neck rash was bothering me again.  It's 10am now and I feel much better now.

I also discovered yesterday that it's that time of the month, so I'm wondering if my blemishes and grumpy mood might be...

Withdrawal Symptoms Day 6

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Saturday, May 11, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
Hmmm, I thought withdrawal symptoms were only supposed to last for 2-5 days.  I guess that range needs to be a little more flexible.  I feel fine, but I did have an interesting bowel movement this morning and I'm still passing gas.  However, it is different.  It doesn't smell nearly as toxic and it has a whole new fragrance.  Still not pleasant, but better.  I did a little reading and it seems that what you eat, affects the smell of your gas, so I guess my change in diet has changed the smell...

Withdrawal Symptoms Day 5

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Friday, May 10, 2013, In : Recipes & Meal Ideas
Well, I actually felt really good this morning.  It's 1:30 now and I just had this massive urge to eat my son's birthday cake.  It's just sitting there, mocking me.  It's a good thing I'm stronger than a silly cake.  I actually did really well last night when we were making it.  I didn't even taste the frosting to see if it tasted right.  I can't guarantee that it's good, but at least I didn't cheat.  I'm sure our guests will understand.  Besides, it's full of sugar, so how could it not be go...

Day 4 Withdrawal Symptoms

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Thursday, May 9, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
Wow!!!  I am starting to think that sneaking in a milkshake before this diet was a bad idea.  My toxic experience in the bathroom this morning was horrifying.  I guess it does take a few days for "food" (and I use this term loosely) to really go through your body.  This would explain why there seemed to be no pattern to my prior symptoms and what I had just eaten.  It's all starting to make sense now.  My poor intestines.

I am happy to say though, I felt pretty good the rest of the day.

Day 3 Withdrawal Symptoms

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
This morning, I woke up feeling rather spunky.  I still felt a bit of carpal tunnel, but all in all, I was in very good spirits.  It was a beautiful day and life felt good.  So, why was I completely rude to the lady at the vehicle licensing center?  I have no idea.  For a brief bit, I felt irritable and grouchy.  Thank goodness I had the sensibility to apologize to her.  I realized how unreasonable I was being, so I tried my hardest to be normal.  I have to say, I am feeling much better now. ...

Day 2 Withdrawal Symptoms

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
During the past year or so, I have noticed some carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist.  It tends to flare up when I am doing repetitive tasks on my computer.  I haven't had any trouble from it in awhile, but it started up again today.  I thought it was odd, because I'm not doing anything repetitive at the moment.

When I was reading The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook last night, it stated that eating foods that your body is sensitive to, can cause inflammation in the body.  So, it would make...

Day 1 Withdrawal Symptoms

Posted by Pam Timmermans on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, In : Withdrawal Symptoms
Well, I did know that there could be some withdrawal symptoms, but I was a little taken by surprise.  My son is still young and often wakes me up during the night.  So, as per usual, I was woken up at about 1am.  Usually, I just get up and I feel fine enough, assuming that sleep deprivation is normal.  This time, I actually felt kind of hung over.  It was so strange.  I had massive back pain, which for me, comes and goes, I was totally bloated, which I haven't experienced that in awhile and a...
