Unfortunately, many of my usual smoothie must haves are a no no, so I had to do some improvising.  I'm sad to see my bananas, pineapple, orange juice, and agave nectar leave the mix, but I am experimenting with some new things.

Usually, I am all about avocados, mangos, hemp hearts, ground flax, ground chia seeds, bee pollen, and of course my eliminated items :(  So, I added some blueberries, raspberries, and I even tried something green....kale.  Now I don't suggest overdoing it on the kale, but it wasn't too bad.  At first, it smelled horrendous, but honestly, once you get used to it, not so bad.  I was thinking that spinach might be good too.

Smoothie Recipe

  • 1 mango
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 pear
  • 1/4 c blueberries
  • 1/4 c raspberries
  • 1 tbsp ground chia
  • 2 tbsp hemp hearts
  • 1-2 tbsp bee pollen
  • 2-3 tbsp ground flax seeds
  • 1 tbsp ground buckwheat
  • fill blender 1/2 full of apple cider or apple juice
  • fill the rest of the blender with water

Blend all the ingredients until liquified.  Frozen ingredients are absolutely fine to use.  I really like the Cuisinart blender.  I've found some blenders just aren't powerful enough.

Smoothies are great for breakfast or to just have in the fridge if you get a sudden hunger pang during the day.
